Jefferson Huang, Vice President for Student Affairs. Dean Huang reports directly to President Gann and is a member of the Senior Staff of the College. He is responsible for oversight of all the student affairs groups, including: the Dean of Students Office, the Career Services Center, International Place, the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum, and the Emett Student Center. He also represents CMC in student affairs matters related to The Claremont Consortium, including: Student Health Services, the Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services Center, Campus Safety, the Chaplains Office, the Office of Black Student Affairs (OBSA), and the Chicano Latino Student Affairs (CLSA) office. Dean Huang serves as the Dean for CMC Graduate Students.
Mary Spellman, Dean of Students. Dean Spellman is responsible for the Dean of Students office, staff, and programs. She is an advocate for all students and is the primary contact in the Dean of Students office for returning sophomores, juniors, and seniors. She also has oversight for conduct issues and the Judiciary Board.
Jennifer Jimenez Maraña, Associate Dean of Students and Dean of First-Year Students. Dean Maraña is responsible for New Student programs, including Orientation, and is the primary contact in the Dean of Students office for students who entered in 2010-2011 as a freshman or transfer.
David "Fid" Castro, Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life. Dean Castro is responsible for residential life, including housing assignments and the Resident Assistant program. He also assists with conduct issues and the Judiciary Board.
Jim Nauls, Assistant Dean of Students, Director of Student Activities, and Manager of the Student Apartments. Dean Nauls is responsible for Student Activities, the WOA program, and the Student Apartment complex.
Julia Easley, Assistant to the VP for Student Affairs and the Dean of Students. Ms. Easley is responsible for administrative tasks within the Dean of Students Office, and she serves as the liaison to students with Learning or Physical Differences.
Lyn Hughes, Administrative Assistant. Ms. Hughes handles requests for room changes, the dorm damage program for the residence halls, room draw, meal plans, health insurance, and several administrative tasks within the Dean of Students Office.
Maria Alfaro, Administrative Assistant and Activities Assistant. Ms. Alfaro assists with the Student Activities program and general office functions. She sells tickets to events, and assists the Community Service Coordinators.
Additional Student Affairs Staff:
Donald Delgado, Associate Dean of Students & Director of International Place. Mr. Delgado initiates, implements, and supervises support services for international students, scholars, and faculty at The Claremont Colleges. He has responsibility for issuing and reviewing student visas, the Thursday “lunch and conversation” program, and the International Festival.
Bonnie Snortum, Director of the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum. Ms. Snortum is responsible for all aspects of the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum. She oversees the professional staff, support staff, kitchen staff, and the student staff, including the Athenaeum Fellows. She also works with the Athenaeum Advisory Committee to schedule guest speakers and performers.
Diana Seder, Associate Dean of Students and Director of the Career Services Center. Ms. Seder is responsible for the operation of the Career Services Center, including: supervision of professional and support staff, career counseling and assessment, employer relations, on-campus interviewing, college-sponsored internships, and relationships with academic departments. ************************************************* Additional information about faculty and staff members, including degrees earned and length of employment at CMC can be found in the back of the College Catalog.
